Guy leads the institute’s work on political and democratic reform and has published widely in this area and on British politics more generally. He is also the co-editor of Juncture, IPPR’s quarterly politics and ideas journal, and also leads IPPR’s partnership with the Institute of Policy Analysis and Research (IPAR), a Rwandan-based thinktank.
Guy regularly comments on British politics and public policy issues in the national and international media. Recent appearances include the Today programme, Channel 4 News, The Daily Politics, BBC Breakfast, Five Live and The Week in Westminster. His work has been extensively covered in the print media with recent coverage in The Times, Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, Guardian, Independent, Daily Mail, Sun, New York Times, Economist, Prospect Magazine, International Herald Tribune, Australian, Spectator and New Statesman.
His book Brown at 10 (co-authored with Anthony Seldon) was described by the Guardian as a ‘must read for anyone who wants to know what really happened in the final three years of the Labour government’ and was named one of the Independent’s political books of 2010 and again in 2011, when the revised paperback edition was published. His next book with Iain McLean and Jim Gallagher, Scotland’s Choices, explores the prospects of further constitutional change in Scotland and its implications for the UK, and will be published by Edinburgh University Press in spring 2013.
Before joining IPPR, Guy worked at the Constitution Unit, in the School of Public Policy, University College London. He has also worked in the House of Commons and at the Fabian Society.
Guy is also Gwilym Gibbon Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford University. He was educated at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
