Marc is an experienced public speaker and media performer. His work on “Blue Labour” was the subject of a recent BBC Radio 4 Analysis programme and he has recently appeared in several discussions on the future of Labour politics, including for BBC Newsnight and Channel 4. He was a keynote speaker at the New York Review of Books’ “What Next?” conference in 2010 and regularly addresses public and private sector audiences on the future of democracy in the workplace. He is the author and editor of several books, including Demanding Democracy: American Radicals in Search of a New Politics (Princeton, 2010).
In addition to his role at IPPR, Marc Stears is Professor of Political Theory at the University of Oxford. He was previously Fellow in Social and Political Sciences at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
