Head of Advocacy, IPPR (based in Westminster)
£50,631 - £63,717 (£40,505 - £50,974 pro rata) depending on skills & experience, plus benefits
30 hours per week (but open to other arrangements)
Two-year fixed term contract, starting as soon as possible

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) is the UK’s leading independent thinktank. Our research and ideas have shaped progressive policy making for more than three decades. At this exciting moment in British politics, we are looking to recruit a new Head of Advocacy to help make our work as influential as possible. We are looking for someone who is ambitious for progress in the UK, politically strategic, thinks deeply about how change happens and can get stuck in to deliver bold advocacy programmes.

This role will ensure that IPPR is effectively influencing policy and decision makers in government, political parties, and civil servants – as well as shaping the opinions and actions of those around politics, such as journalists and business leaders. This will include helping IPPR to build more effective partnerships with other organisations and campaigners to shape the public debate and create change.

This is an important and exciting new role within IPPR. The successful person will have an opportunity to shape our work, build new and exciting relationships with politicians, civil servants and civil society, and to secure real impact that makes the UK fairer, more sustainable and more prosperous. You will work as part of our amazing team of researchers, communications experts and change makers to make a real difference.

As part of our commitment to flexible working we will consider a range of options for the successful applicant to fill the post, including secondment. All options can be discussed at interview stage. This post will be based in our office, right at the heart of Westminster, with staff expected to be in the office at least two days a week. The role may require occasional travel to our offices in the North and in Scotland.
