IPPR North Comments on Channel 4 National HQ Announcement

Commenting on the announcement that Leeds will become the new national HQ for Channel 4, Jack Hunter of IPPR North said:

“This is brilliant news for Yorkshire and the North of England. The Leeds City Region is already a dynamic hub for culture and the creative industries and today’s announcement is a big symbolic investment in its future.

“Channel 4 now has the opportunity to embed itself in a great Northern city region, to understand the experience of people and communities here, and to ensure that Northern voices are better represented nationally.

“Today’s news also means more job opportunities for graduates from the many excellent creative and media courses at Northern universities, without having to leave the region. And a big creative centre like this in the North will help to create further activity in broadcasting and related sectors.”
