Michael Jacobs responding to the abolition of the Department for Energy and Climate Change
14 Jul 2016Press Story
"The abolition of a department of climate change risks reversing ten years of progress on reducing the threat of global warming. It will be essential that the new Secretary of State for the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy commits to integrating greenhouse gas emissions reductions across the department's remit.
"If it is to be a success, its new focus on industrial strategy must be low-carbon. Greg Clark needs to move swiftly to reassure energy investors that there will be no change in the commitment to decarbonisation and that the Chancellor's Autumn Statement will provide the policy framework to restart investment in vital low-carbon infrastructure."
